Karen is an inspired storyteller who writes to make the world a better place. For as long as she can remember, she has felt a desire to make an impact.
From creating message-driven marketing communications for a local YMCA as part of Marquette University’s competitive Trinity Fellows Program with a focus in public service, to participating in the Jesuit Volunteer Corps—where she spent one year in Baton Rouge helping at-risk youth and another in Nashville focusing on refugee resettlement—Karen’s inherent passion for driving missions forward has always been a catalyst for positive action in her life. She comes to Leapfrog Group with nearly a decade of in-house marketing and communications experience in the non-profit world, including eight years as director of communications for Gesu School.
When approaching a writing project, instead of defaulting to jargon, she captures the uniquely vibrant spirit of each organization with powerful prose. She sees writing as giving the copy life—so it becomes an authentic expression of her client’s brand. Her process involves digging for concrete details that help her create language that inspires audiences. Drawing on design experience, Karen writes visually, with a talent for breaking up copy into digestible headlines, call outs, and segments so that readers can best connect.
When Karen is not working with Leapfrog Group clients, she is most likely chasing her three young boys at the playground with her husband. She is also an avid reader.
