An independent, language immersion, and IB World school that had evolved and needed a unifying name and brand expression that fit
French International School of Oregon had evolved in various ways over its 44 years, including the creation of a middle school, the addition of an immersive curriculum, the acquisition of a new campus site, and the adoption of an International Baccalaureate (IB) philosophy and framework. But its names — two different names were in use — and brand expression did not reflect the contemporary identity of a united early childhood through grade 8 school. The school needed a unified name and a clear, authentic way to talk about itself from a position of strength. Time spent engaging with the school community revealed it uses language as a powerful tool for learning, educating its students from a global perspective that prepares them to engage with inclusivity, achieve with integrity, and excel with distinction.

In a few words, French International School of Oregon (formerly the French American International School) accurately and concisely describes this unique school. The new name connotes the school is an entity that is connected to a broader network of French International schools and places the school geographically in the world.
Intentionally drawing inspiration from the French artist Henri Matisse, the new logo is a timeless symbol that accurately reflects how French International School of Oregon educates students from a global perspective. The logo is visually impactful by offering different perspectives—one might see the earth and stars, or nurturing hands around the earth, or a child’s arms reaching for the stars, symbolizing their aspirations—each perspective leaving a lasting impression.
